I actually gain enjoyment from recommending/reviewing something, everyone that follows my private Instagram account would know that very well since I have a highlight about everything that I recommend such as movies, cartoons, books, and even youtube channels. But this brain dump that I intend to be an article is actually kind of a task, so shout-out to my lecturer, if you are reading this, thank you for letting this be an excuse for me to neglect my other work and just do things that I enjoy for a while! Hehehe.

I have five cartoons that I will review and please keep in mind that this list is subjective and I don’t list it down by the rank in my heart. It is random!

🐾Scooby-Doo🐾

Scooby-Doo is actually one of my favorite childhood cartoons since I really enjoy fiction that revolves around mystery, there is Detective Conan of course but that one is a little bit too scary since it is similar to what actually happens in real life. For me, Scooby-Doo offers the thrill but compensate it with a lot of dumb funny things, back then I like Scooby-Doo too much to the point that I always play it on my neighbor PlayStation, depriving him of playing games that he actually wants. Sorry, bro😜.

The Scooby-Doo movie is a different case though since I watched it again when I am older and………let’s just say its not for children......... In conclusion, it’s the perfect cartoon to watch when you want a little thrill and a dumb funny act that is entertaining.

🦸‍♀️Totally Spies 🦸‍♀️

I actually got acquainted with Sam, Clover, and Alex when my father decided to subscribe to a wi-fi provider. So, besides spending most of my time watching Korean reality shows, Totally Spies became a staple in my routine since I'm pretty sure deep down in my middle school heart I think I can become a spy with a cute gadget (I still kind of want to be a spy).

Looking back at this cartoon, one thing that is such a disappointment for me is that this cartoon does not promote body inclusivity for the main character. Everyone is slim and tall and perfect and not realistic because everyone seems to fit into a beauty standard. I understand though since I’m sure at that time the body inclusivity movement is not very loud yet. Despite my disappointment, this cartoon still has a special place in my heart because it’s the first cartoon with three badass, smart, spy-fashion-icon. Oh, and the good thing is this is available on youtube!

🌬The Legend of Aang: The Last Airbender🌬

I could write an essay about this, but I won't, not here not now at least. Almost all of my friends know that I love this animation (as a matter of fact, my best friends surprised me with them wearing an avatar mask for my birthday. Yip yip Appa.😁). Love this cartoon when I was a kid, love this cartoon when I am a teen. The fandom actually become very active again since now apparently you can watch it on Netflix, and even though it is annoying sometimes to see someone acting like they are the only person that watches this and its “quirky” to watch a children animation, I am just going to channel my inner Uncle Iroh and quote his iconic line “everything is better with tea and company!” 

So, welcome aboard!

👩Chibi Maruko-chan👩

💕FAVORITEEEEEEE!💕 I actually started to watch this in high school, yes, high school. And I am proud to say that this is one of my greatest discoveries throughout those tiring 3 years. It’s just so relatable…..and it reminds me of my childhood and every good thing in it. Adults don’t really realize it, but kids (and teenagers) also could encounter an obstacle in their life and even though maybe the intensity is so much lower it doesn’t mean that it could not be considered an obstacle, right?

Chibi Maruko-chan really reminds me of the youthfulness, and happiness that only a kid can have, and I genuinely cherish this cartoon ✨❤. I used to watch this on TV, it aired after school is finished and before my additional lesson started so I rely on this cartoon to keep me from being crazy with all the stressful things I face in my last year of high school. 

It is available on youtube so if you have not watched it, I suggest you do it!

👨‍🦲Upin-Ipin👨‍🦲

Yes, this is the Upin&Ipin that you know, and yes this is another one of my favorites. I remember the first time I watch this I was still a kid and now I am a not so grown-up university student, but what can I say? I still love it!.

I am quite sure even my closest friends do not know that I still watch this since I rarely mention it, but this cartoon has been a part of my daily routine to the point that I feel weird if I skip watching this. it kind of feels like taking a break from my responsibility and just rest for a while inside this warm blanket mostly known as a comfort zone. we all have it, right? comfort food, comfort person, and in this case comfort cartoon. It's okay if I need to fight with my younger brother to watch it, it's worth it for my sanity.  And I love Kak Ros character! Kak Ros = Me. Maybe that is why my younger brother and I quarrel a lot 🤷‍♀️

Similar to my Korean drama review/recommendation, I watched tons of cartoons but I don't have enough time to write a super long review. Next time, I would try to write about Rugrats, Rudy ChalkZone, Hey Arnold, Hamtaro, Larva, et cetera.
